National Insurance & Guarantee

The Brief
NIG (a division of RBS) wanted an gaming
installation to use at a trade event for insurance brokers in Brighton. In a very competitive environment they wanted a game that would attract users to the stand and inform them about NIG’s business insurance products and services.

The Solution
We created a duck shooting game - a nod to the shooting gallery games on Brighton Pier - where the player had to defend their business from 'risk' ducks that depicted fire, data loss and other threats to a company's welfare.  These risk ducks had to be shot to eliminate them - or you could shoot a purple NIG duck to clear all the risk ducks.

But the most exciting thing about the game was the gun.  Instead of a mouse we built a real (toy) shotgun that (using some very clever technology) controlled the cross hair on the screen.  When you pulled the trigger, the gun fired and took out a duck.

We also built an online version of the game which users could play
on the NIG website after the trade event.

The Results

The gun proved a big success and the stand was constantly busy.

''The NIG duck hunt was very popular with the guests at the BIBA Conference, everyone couldn't resist getting their name up om the leader board! The firing mechanism was a 'hit' and the sound effects kept the atmosphere alive. The fact that it was personalised for NIG and the Insurance market gave it a
professional edge and the content of the game was just right to
engage people and not too long to loose their interest".
