HSBC Insurance - Jonno's Last Stand

Brief

HSBC Insurance and their agency Aura Design, wanted a game to draw attention to their stand at the annual AIRMIC exhibition in London.  The game had to feature Martin Johnson (as one of the brand's representatives) and to tie in with HSBC's involvement with rugby.

Solution

In Jonno's Last Stand, the player has to help Martin hold on to the Rugby World Cup trophy by shooting rugby balls at other international players as they attempt to tackle him.  We used a gyroscopic gun instead of a conventional mouse and these allowed the player to stand a few metres back and fire at the targets on the screen.  We have used the guns before and once again they proved very effective at pulling people into the stand and encouraging the (mainly male) delegates to try and get on the high score table.

Results

The stand was crowded out for both days and when Martin Johnson turned up to present prizes, it was too busy to even play the game!  Stuart Jackson from Aura Design commented that '3rd Sense delivered an imaginative game solution on time and on budget. HSBC and us are very pleased with the activity it has helped generate'.  Jonno was less complimentary about his likeness in the game - we disagree but let him have the final word on this
