Recently 3RD sense was approached by Telenor after they won the television and mobile rights to broadcast the Norwegian Premier League, to create a game to promote their involvement.
With sporting games being very popular in the casual games space it was logical to create Telenor a penalty shoot-out, especially as the sport involved is football. 3RD sense brought some unique features to this relatively common game type when it created Stang Inn!
The Solution
In Stang Inn the objective is to shoot as many goals as possible and thus gain the highest score. What makes this game a little different is that scores can be maximised by aiming for a hotspot within the goal. Your score for each shot is based on how close you can get the ball to the hotspot. The tricky thing is the goalie becomes more protective of the hotspot as the game progresses.
Telenor wanted to involve the various teams involved in the Norwegian league. So when players log in they are asked to nominate their favourite team, their player is then dressed in the appropriate jersey. For every score they submit the user contributes to their team’s overall score as well as submitting their own individual score. This also encourages repeat play as players try to get their team to the top.
3RD sense also created a new 3D game engine for the game, which incorporates a realistic spin on the ball, allowing great bending kicks.
To encourage repeat play, users have the chance to register their score and go into the draw to win monthly prizes as well as the major prize to win seats to the grand final.
The result
Stang Inn can be played in both English and Norwegian here.
